Sound and Light Waves

Both are waves. Switch Air → Vacuum to remove the medium, and see which one still crosses.

Animated comparison. Sound is a longitudinal wave carried by a medium of particles. Light is a pulse that travels across empty space. Switching from Air to Vacuum removes the medium: the sound wave dies while light keeps crossing.

Sound v ≈ 343 m/s in air
Light c ≈ 3×10⁸ m/s
